Parliament calls for elephants, dolphins and pangolins to be placed in different category to come under CITES protection

Strasbourg, 17/03/2000 (Agence Europe) - With a view to the eleventh conference of signatory parties to CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna) to be held from 10 to 20 April in Nairobi, the European Parliament adopted a resolution whereby it above all calls on CITES signatories to implement the appropriate sanctions against countries which have not adopted legislation allowing the Convention to be implemented.
