ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) brewing

The Spanish brewing group MAHOU (428.2 million euro turnover in 1998 with a production of 4.5 hectoliters in 1999) is on the verge of taking total control of the brewers SAN MIGUEL (241.7 million euro turnover in 1998) in which it already had a 27% stake. The remaining 73% belong the French firm DANONE, through its subsidiary KRONENBOURG. Taking over SAN MIGUEL will enable MAHOU to increase its national market share from 17.2% to 32.9%. these two groups together represented a volume of 8.4...
