Parliament calls for flexibility in implementation of the Urban initiative

Strasbourg, 18/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - With its adoption of the report by Arlene McCarthy (Labour, UK) on the Commission's communication laying down guidelines for the Community Urban initiative (economic and social regeneration of cities and neighbourhoods in crisis), the European Parliament welcomed the proposal meant to improve coordination of the Structural Funds with Community financial instruments in regions eligible for the Urban initiative.
