18/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - Commissioner David Byrne stated at a meeting of the European Parliament Intergroup on the Welfare and Protection of Animals that the conditions for the slaughter of sheep in France during the annual Eid-el-Kebir festival are unacceptable and in breach of Community legislation.
