Brussels, 18/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - European Parliament President Nicole Fontaine will make an official visit to te Middle East from 20 to 23 February in which she will be accompanied by Michel Dary, Gerardo Galeote and Luisa Morgantini, respectively heads of the EP delegations for relatios with the Mashrek, Israel and with the Palestinian Legislative Council. The EP delegation will be: - in Israel on 21 February, where they will meet Prime Minister Barak, Foreign Minister Levy, President Weizman, and the Speaker of the Knesset. Mrs. Fontaine will make a speech before the Knesset; - in the Palestinian Territories on 22 February, where meetings are scheduled with President Arafat and the President of the Palestinian Legislative Council; - in Jordan on 23 February, where a hearing is scheduled with King Abdullah II and meetings with Prime Minister Rawabdeh, Foreign Minister Khatib and the Speakers of both Houses of Parliament; - in Lebanon on 24 February, where the MEPs will have talks with President Lahoud, Prime minister and Foreign Minister Hoss and the President of the Parliament.
