Back from her fact-finding mission to Romania and Hungary, Mrs. Wallstrom announces creation of a task force to assess damage

Brussels, 18/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - During her mission to Romania and Hungary, Margot Wallstrom, European Commissioner for the Environment, was able to measure the scale of the ecological disaster caused by cyanide pollution of the whole of the Danube region (see EUROPE of 15 February, p.14), show these two countries the Union's solidarity and emphasise to the authorities concerned the need to inform public opinion fully regarding the real dangers.
