02/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Council decided formally on Monday to improve and simplify tariff nomenclature by creating a central source of multilingual information on European Community imports and exports (based on TARIC, the Community integrated tariff). This decision by qualified majority (with Italy abstaining), amends the regulation in force on tariff nomenclature and statistics and the common customs tariff (Regulation 2658/87).
