Council Presidency will ensure working of Community machine is not affected by events in Austria - Explanation of "Fourteen"'s attitude

Brussels, 02/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - We shall ensure that the working of the Community machine is not be affected by what is happening in Austria but, while we acknowledge of course that Austria has the right to choose its own government, "we have the right and the duty to express our opinion" on important events that affect other Union Member States.
