First informal Council under Portuguese Presidency to launch debate on a new partnership between the European Union and Africa (Lisbon, 28-29 January)

Brussels, 27/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - Determined to give the Union's cooperation ties with Africa a prominent role, the Portuguese Council Presidency has decided to devote the first informal Development Council to debate on the conditions for a new partnership with Africa (see EUROPE of 8 January, page 5).
