29/04/2026 (Agence Europe) – The European Union has released €175,000 to prevent the spread of measles in Bangladesh, according to a press release issued by the European External Action Service on Wednesday 29 April. The funding will enable the local Red Crescent to support vaccination campaigns and the distribution of medical equipment and hygiene kits across eight divisions of the country. The package also includes direct financial aid for the poorest families: the aim is to compensate for loss of income linked to care and to cover the cost of transport to health centres. This support is in addition to the more than €23 million already mobilised by the EU for Bangladesh this year (see EUROPE 13798/10), the bulk of which is earmarked for assistance to Rohingya refugees.
