Brussels, 29/04/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 29 April, the spokesman for the European External Action Service welcomed the previous day’s meeting of the Armenia-Türkiye bilateral working group aimed at making progress on restoring rail links between the two countries. In a press release, he said that once operational, the Kars-Gyumri rail link - closed for more than 30 years - would strengthen regional connectivity and bring tangible benefits to all the people of the South Caucasus region. The EU has encouraged the full normalisation of relations between the two countries. “The sustained momentum in the Armenia-Türkiye normalisation process reflects the broader positive dynamics taking hold in the region – essential for lasting peace and stability”, he added.
