17/03/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 17 March, the European Parliament’s Committees on Transport (TRAN) and Environment (ENVI) approved, by 81 votes to 16, with 4 abstentions, the agreement reached with the EU Council in November on the draft ‘CountEmissionsEU’ regulation (see EUROPE 13747/4). The EU Council adopted the agreement at the end of February (see EUROPE 13817/31). This regulation sets out a common methodological approach enabling companies in the transport sector to calculate their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. While this calculation method is not mandatory, the methodology enables companies that choose to do so to generate comparable data for reporting, contractual or marketing purposes. The agreement must now be approved by the European Parliament as a whole during April’s plenary session. The regulation: https://aeur.eu/f/kxg (AD)
