04/03/2026 (Agence Europe) – In an EU Council document published on Tuesday 3 March, Member States were informed that the signing of the Modernised Global Agreement (MGA) between the EU and Mexico is scheduled for the end of May (see EUROPE 13701/3). Before that, the agreement should be approved by the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the Member States to the EU (Coreper) and adopted by the EU Council in mid-May. As the document indicates, the agreement should be made available to the permanent representatives for signature on the sidelines of the Coreper II meetings on 6 and 13 May. To do this, Member States must issue an instrument of full powers to the EU Council’s Treaties and Agreements Office, authorising the representatives, who are neither heads of state, heads of government nor ministers for foreign affairs, to sign the agreement.
