Brussels, 23/02/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 20 February, the European Commission published an implementing regulation requiring imports of sodium benzoate from China to be registered. This is a preservative additive used in food. An anti-dumping proceeding was initiated on 19 December last year, following a complaint lodged in November by Lanxess Chemical B.V. on behalf of producers representing more than 25% of the Union’s total production of sodium benzoate. The purpose of this registration procedure is to levy anti-dumping duties retroactively on registered imports once the investigation has been completed. This will obviously be the case if the investigation leads to the imposition of anti-dumping duties and if all the necessary conditions are met. According to the calculations provided in the complaint, the dumping margin would have been 125% between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2025. To see the implementing regulation: https://aeur.eu/f/kv3 (PLD)
