Brussels, 23/02/2026 (Agence Europe) – “I strongly urge you to act in conformity with our common decision of 18 December and to unblock the implementation of the €90 billion Ukraine Support Loan”, replied the President of the European Council, António Costa, on Monday 23 February to the Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orbán, who wants to maintain his veto on the European loan as long as Kyiv does not restore Russian oil deliveries through the Droujba pipeline. “Ukraine has presented a different version of the facts concerning the supply of crude oil to Hungary through Ukraine. Tomorrow (24 February in Kyiv, Editor’s note), I will raise this matter directly with President Zelensky. In any case, a decision taken by the European Council must be respected. When leaders reach a consensus, they are bound by their decision. Any breach of this commitment constitutes a violation of the principle of sincere cooperation”, added the Portuguese. (SP)
