19/12/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 18 December, the European Commission appointed the 20 members of the new European Innovation Council (EIC) Board. They include 15 new members and five members of the previous EIC Board, whose mandates have been renewed. The Board’s mission is to guide the EIC so that it becomes Europe’s reference instrument for innovative breakthroughs and scale-ups in ‘deep tech’, effectively channelling resources and promoting Europe’s strategic autonomy. It advises the Commission on strategy, the work programme and the thematic portfolios, and may also be asked to give its opinion on more general issues relating to innovation policy. EIC Board members serve in a personal capacity and are appointed for a two-year term, renewable twice. (AD)
