At European Parliament, Nuclear Energy Focus Group preparing position paper ahead of publication of final PINC report

The European Parliament’s Nuclear Energy Focus Group will adopt a position paper on PINC (Nuclear Illustrative Programme) in mid-December, as indicated by Christophe Grudler MEP (Renew Europe, French), Chair of the Group, on Monday 24 November.

This publication is planned despite the fact that a dedicated own-initiative report did not receive the necessary political support in the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE).

For Mr Grudler, however, it is essential that “the European Parliament expresses itself clearly on such a strategic text for the nuclear industry and for the Union’s overall energy policy”.

This position paper will be published before the European Commission presents the final version of PINC in spring 2026.

According to a press release, the document will, among other things, set out the Nuclear Group’s priorities regarding the role of nuclear energy, define investment needs and levers for action, and establish “a common basis for discussion with the Commission and the Council, particularly in the context of the Nuclear Alliance”.
