Italy and other EU countries call for safeguard clause to protect European rice

At the ‘Agriculture’ Council on Monday 17 November, Italy and other EU Member States, including Spain, called for the revision of the Generalised Scheme of Preferences (GSP) regulation to be used to introduce effective safeguard clauses for rice imports from countries benefiting from the Everything but Arms (EBA) trade mechanism, in order to protect European rice.
