18/11/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 4 November, the European Commission launched a consultation on the revision of the regulation on standardised access to vehicle on-board diagnostics information and repair and maintenance information, and the requirements and procedures for secure access. The aim of this initiative is to clarify the measures related to cybersecurity and access control that vehicle manufacturers can apply to the on-board diagnostic and repair and maintenance information on their vehicles. Long called for by European automotive aftermarket representatives (see EUROPE 13506/28), it is part of the Industrial Action Plan for the European Automotive Sector (see EUROPE 13592/4). The existing legislation prevents vehicle manufacturers from applying effective measures protecting the vehicle against cyberattacks related to access to on-board diagnostic information. The consultation is open until Tuesday 2 December. See the consultation: https://aeur.eu/f/ji8 (AD)
