18/11/2025 (Agence Europe) – Following the third and final session of its workshop held in Brussels from 14 to 16 November, the European Citizens’ Panel on Intergenerational Fairness adopted a series of recommendations intended for the European Commission, which will develop the EU’s first strategy on intergenerational fairness. Submitted to Commissioner Glenn Micallef (who is responsible for this issue), they encourage fair and responsible policymaking that takes [policies’] “long-term impact [...] on future generations” into consideration, and they “invite [the European Commission] to consider [...] policies [...] to address a widening gap in opportunities” [according to a European Commission news item]. Among the main priorities are “promoting lifelong [...] learning”, “bridging nations”, and “celebrating cultures”. In a communiqué, Glenn Micallef acknowledged, “Now, it’s on us to turn the citizens’ recommendations [https://aeur.eu/f/ji5 ] into action.” (Original version in French by Nithya Paquiry)
