30/09/25 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 30 September, Ukraine officially completed its bilateral screening with the European Commission as part of its EU accession process. This screening, which consists of analysing the conformity of Ukrainian legislation with the acquis communautaire, began in July 2024. Ukraine has also set out clear plans for complying with the rules. This process enables the Commission to assess Ukraine’s level of preparedness for accession and provides an important technical basis for the continuation of negotiations, according to the Commission. The swift completion of the review “was made possible by Ukraine’s dedication, professionalism and motivation to deliver on reforms and align with EU standards”, stressed the Commission in a press release. Ukraine is now waiting to open its first cluster of accession negotiation chapters. (CG)
