30/09/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 30 September, the S&D group in the European Parliament adopted the ‘Opatija Declaration’, standing up for workers’ rights and for fair green and digital transitions, according to a press release. The declaration adopted in the Croatian city “comes at a crucial time - labour rights in Europe have reached their lowest point in a decade, as highlighted in a recent report by the International Trade Union Confederation”. The group formulated a series of demands, including: - living wages for all; - workplace well-being and safety; - fair work in the digital age; - fair public procurement; - lifelong learning and career development; - paid quality traineeships and apprenticeships; - properly regulated subcontracting; - equal rights for mobile workers; - skills mobility; - strong trade unions and social dialogue.
