EU hopes to give its first green light to association agreement with Mercosur at beginning of December

26/09/2025 (Agence Europe) – The biannual summit of Mercosur countries could be held on 5 December in Brazil, and the European Commission hopes to be invited to announce the - partial - signing of the EU/Mercosur Association Agreement (EMPA). EU Member States could vote on the part of the agreement that falls within the exclusive competence of the EU on 3 December, at the level of the Permanent Representatives of the Member States to the EU, according to two sources. In the meantime,...
