26/09/2025 (Agence Europe) – The biannual summit of Mercosur countries could be held on 5 December in Brazil, and the European Commission hopes to be invited to announce the - partial - signing of the EU/Mercosur Association Agreement (EMPA). EU Member States could vote on the part of the agreement that falls within the exclusive competence of the EU on 3 December, at the level of the Permanent Representatives of the Member States to the EU, according to two sources. In the meantime, the European Commission is due to present the legislative text on the safeguards it has promised to the EU27, potentially in October. This will take the form of either a delegated act or a regulation subject to the ordinary legislative procedure. (LM)
