26/09/2025 (Agence Europe) – According to data published on Tuesday 23 September by Eurostat, the EU’s statistical office, the cost of housing is a greater burden for 15-29 year-olds than for their elders. In 2024, 9.7% of young people lived in households spending at least 40% of their disposable income on housing, compared with 8.2% of the population as a whole. This is particularly true in Greece (30.3%) and Denmark (28.9%), while Croatia (2.1%) and Cyprus (2.8%) have the lowest rates. In 16 Member States, the housing cost overburden rate was higher among young people than in the general population. The biggest difference between these two groups was 14.3 percentage points in Denmark, followed by the Netherlands with 8.4 percentage points. View the data: https://aeur.eu/f/in0 (NP)
