The European Commissioner for Trade, Maroš Šefčovič, will visit Indonesia on Tuesday 23 September, with the aim of announcing the conclusion of negotiations on the EU/Indonesia trade agreement. Last July, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the Indonesian President, Prabowo Subianto, instructed the negotiators to finalise the negotiations in September (see EUROPE 13680/7). According to several sources, discussions have progressed well in recent months and a conclusion is plausible. However, Indonesia is concerned about the impact of several pieces of European legislation, such as the regulation to combat deforestation imported into the EU (EUDR). (LM)
