Removal of child sexual abuse material from Internet – new discussions in EU Council do not yet point way to agreement

On Friday 12 September, Member State experts discussed the latest compromise text from the Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union on the removal of child sexual abuse material from the Internet (see EUROPE B13690A7).

In July, the Presidency decided to revert to compulsory content detection orders, whereas Warsaw had tried, under its mandate, to find a consensus between the Member States by making these monitoring orders addressed to content platforms and hosts voluntary.
