At their informal meeting in Copenhagen on Tuesday 16 September, the European health ministers will debate the need for greater cooperation between Member States regarding the sharing of data on stock levels and demand for medicines.
The Danish Presidency of the EU Council, represented by Minister Sophie Løhde, will launch the discussion on strategic procurement options to strengthen security of supply, particularly in relation to off-patent medicines. She will ask the ministers about the possibility of greater cooperation between Member States in the procurement of medicines before new legislation comes into force.
The second topic to be debated on Tuesday is the strategy to make the European Union the world’s most attractive destination for life sciences by 2030. The success of this initiative will be measured in terms of more rapid access for European patients to safe and effective innovations, according to the Danish Presidency.
Finally, the ministers will have a working lunch devoted to strengthening Europe’s resilience to antimicrobial resistance (AMR). (Original version in French by Lionel Changeur)
