10/09/2025 (Agence Europe) – On the evening of Tuesday 9 September, the spokesperson for the European External Action Service condemned the Israeli air strike carried out earlier that day against senior Hamas officials in Doha. Five people are thought to have died in the attack. They are believed to be the son of Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya, one of his associates and three of his bodyguards. This strike “breaches international law and Qatar’s territorial integrity, and risks a further escalation of violence in the region”, the spokesperson emphasised in a press statement, recalling that Qatar is a strategic partner of the EU. They said that any escalation of the war in Gaza must be avoided and is in no one’s interest. “We will continue to support all efforts towards a ceasefire in Gaza”, the spokesperson promised. (CG)
