The leaking of a draft proposal on EU own resources has confirmed that the European Commission intends to attach a package of proposals for new own resources to its proposal for the post-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) due on 16 July.
The aim is to reconcile political priorities with the repayment, from 2028, of the Next Generation EU loan, which will represent around 20% of the EU’s current annual budget.
