14/07/25 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 14 July, Moldova and the EU announced that they had reached an agreement to strengthen their cooperation in the digital and cyber security fields, ten days after the first bilateral EU/Moldova summit was held in Chișinău (see EUROPE 13674/1). The Council of the EU has agreed that a country applying for EU membership can benefit from the support of the Union’s cybersecurity reserve during major crises. At a time when the country is facing heavy foreign interference, the agreement reached also aims to help Moldova combat disinformation and to include the country in the EU roaming zone. The agreement also includes Moldova in the trusted list of third countries for the validation of electronic signatures, which should facilitate trade and information exchanges with the EU. (IS)
