14/07/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 14 July, the European Commission launched a public consultation on the ‘European Affordable Housing Plan’, which is scheduled for early 2026. All stakeholders have been invited to give their views on a wide range of issues, including affordable and social housing, financing, State aid, construction and renovation, housing reallocation, simplification, rental markets and short-term rentals, and the financialisation of the housing sector. A detailed questionnaire, available in all the official languages of the EU, is to be completed by Friday 17 October. Another public consultation is open until the end of July on the inclusion of affordable housing in the EU rules governing services of general economic interest (see EUROPE 13654/22).
