09/07/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 9 July, the European Commission launched a public consultation on the creation of a 28th regime for companies, which is due to be the subject of a proposal next year (see EUROPE 13645/1). The aim of this initiative is to enable businesses to benefit from a single set of rules across the EU, but the Commission intends to do this gradually. The first step could be to define the essential elements of companies benefiting from the 28th regime: the type of company, the minimum capital required, a possible distinct name and an abbreviation for companies in the 28th regime. The Commission would also like to make it easier to set up these businesses, with a target of 48 hours, thanks in particular to ‘all-digital’ technology. The consultation is open until 30 September.
