MEPs approve new regulation to tackle overfishing by third countries

09/07/25 (Agence Europe) – By adopting the report by Thomas Bajada (S&D, Maltese) on unsustainable fishing by third countries in Strasbourg on Wednesday 9 July (681 votes in favour, 4 against and 4 abstentions), MEPs approved a regulation, the result of a compromise with the Council of the EU, which specifies the unsustainable practices that may lead the Union to apply restrictive measures, including trade measures such as import bans (see EUROPE B13652A5).
