Co-legislators await provisional agreement on simplifying Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism on 18 June

Brussels, 11/06/2025 (Agence Europe)Negotiators from the EU Council and the European Parliament will meet in Strasbourg on Wednesday 18 June for a first and potentially only inter-institutional negotiating session (‘trilogue’) on the ‘omnibus’ regulation simplifying the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). The positions of the European Parliament and the EU Council are very close on this text (see EUROPE 13646/18, 13649/19). This is why negotiators expect to reach an agreement on Wednesday 18 June, which would allow the regulation to be adopted under the Polish Presidency of the EU Council. (LM)
