At the 10th Human Rights Dialogue, held on 5 June in Kyiv, the European Union reiterated its call for Ukraine to adopt legislation to combat hate crimes and ensure non-discrimination against LGBTIQ people.
According to a press release issued by the European External Action Service on Tuesday 10 June, the EU also stressed the importance of ensuring that Ukrainian legislation on freedom of religion and belief complies with obligations under international law.
“Both sides further confirmed their mutual determination to continue close cooperation and coordination on all human rights issues in international multilateral fora”, explained the EEAS. The EU and Ukraine reaffirmed their active efforts to prevent and combat any violation of human rights, including in the temporarily occupied and liberated Ukrainian territories.
They also expressed their concern at the deteriorating situation and restrictions on civil and political rights in the Ukrainian territories temporarily occupied by Russia. (Original version in French by Camille-Cerise Gessant)
