Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions calls for European pact for islands

Representatives of the islands of the European Union, meeting in Santa Cruz de La Palma (Canary Islands) on Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 April, called on the EU to integrate the specific needs of the islands and outermost regions into its fundamental policies, starting with cohesion policy.

The ‘La Palma Declaration’ on EU islands was adopted by the 44th General Assembly of the ‘Islands Commission’ of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR).
