European Parliament calls for greater support for decarbonisation of energy-intensive industries

On Thursday 3 April, MEPs adopted a resolution from the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) calling for measures to support the competitiveness of energy-intensive industries in the EU (see EUROPE B13602A4). Their demands focus on reducing energy prices, measures to protect the steel sector from global overcapacity and efforts to limit carbon leakage.
