ACER consults on peak-shaving products to reduce electricity consumption

Brussels, 06/03/2025 (Agence Europe) – The Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) is to consult on the impact of peak-shaving products, which allow market players to reduce their electricity consumption during periods of peak demand in exchange for compensation. In the event of a crisis in electricity prices, Member States may ask network operators to use these products to reduce demand, as detailed in the Electricity Market Design Regulation (see EUROPE B13454A27).
