European Court of Human Rights definitively rejects Călin Georgescu’s appeal

On Thursday 6 March, the European Court of Human Rights definitively rejected the appeal lodged in December by far-right candidate Călin Georgescu following the annulment of the first round of Romania’s presidential elections held in November, in which he came out ahead to everyone’s surprise.

The Romanian Constitutional Court unanimously annulled the election on suspicion of Russian interference.
