Share of renewable energies in heating and cooling reaches 26.2% in EU

06/03/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 5 March, Eurostat reported that the share of renewable energies in heating and cooling in the EU had reached a record 26.2% in 2023, compared with 11.7% in 2004, marking the start of a long series. The share was 25% in 2022. Directive 2023/2413 requires EU countries to increase their annual average share by at least 0.8 percentage points (pp) between 2021 and 2025 and by at least 1.1 pp between 2026 and 2030.
