05/02/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 5 February, the European Commission presented its Digital Trade Agreement (DTA) with Singapore to the EU Council for signature. This agreement, the first of its kind, complements the EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement, which came into force in 2019. It should further link the two economies, half of whose total trade in services, worth €43 billion, will be carried out digitally by 2022, notably by reducing administrative burdens and increasing legal predictability and certainty for businesses (see EUROPE 13461/7). The EU Council has given the green light to the European Commission’s mandate for digital trade negotiations with Singapore in June 2023. (IS)
