04/02/25 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 3 February, the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) opened a consultation on inter-temporal cost allocation mechanisms to finance hydrogen infrastructure, in order to inform the drafting of a recommendation that the agency is responsible for issuing as part of the gas package regulation (see EUROPE 13455/26) aimed at integrating renewable gases into Europe’s energy system. Stakeholders will be able to submit their opinions as part of this public consultation, which will be open from 10 to 31 March. The aim of the inter-temporal cost allocation mechanisms is to ensure a fair distribution of costs between the first and future consumers of hydrogen “while ensuring that the former are not disproportionately burdened”, explains ACER in a press release.
