04/02/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 3 February, the European Commission launched a new ‘EU’s future competitiveness’ task force to coordinate work on making the ‘Competitiveness Compass’ operational (see EUROPE 13568/1). The task force reports to the Commission’s deputy secretary-general, who is responsible for policy coordination. Activities will include interacting with authorities in Member States as well as with industry to keep an eye on progress made in removing barriers to productivity. The task force will also have to promote policy coherence when preparing flagship actions. It will furthermore be responsible for developing the ‘Competitiveness Coordination Tool’ announced by the European Commission. (LM)
