On Monday 3 February, the European Cancer Organisation (ECO), EURORDIS-Rare Diseases Europe, and the European Society for Paediatric Oncology (SIOPE) welcomed the creation of a new ‘Intergroup on Cancer & Rare Diseases’ in the European Parliament for the 2024-2029 term.
The intergroup held its first constitutive meeting on Monday and elected MEP Vlad Voiculescu (Renew Europe, Romanian) as Chair. The Vice-Chairs appointed are Stine Bosse (Renew Europe, Danish), Tilly Metz (Greens/EFA, Luxembourger), Alessandra Moretti (S&D, Italian) and Tomislav Sokol (EPP, Croatian).
ECO, SIOPE and EURORDIS-Rare Diseases Europe will provide secretariat support to the Intergroup, in particular by facilitating access to top-level expertise on key topics.
The aim of the Intergroup is to ensure the relevance of cancer and rare disease-related policies in the EU political debate and to provide a forum for discussion on urgent and emerging policy challenges in this area. (Original version in French by Lionel Changeur)
