31/01/25 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 31 January, the European Commission opened a consultation inviting stakeholders to share their views on candidate energy infrastructure projects, with the aim of obtaining the status of Project of Common Interest (PCI) or Project of Mutual Interest (PMI), as defined in the TEN-E Regulation (EU/2022/869). The consultation, open until 25 April, covers project proposals for electricity transport and storage infrastructures (including offshore), hydrogen and electrolysers, smart electricity grids, smart gas grids and carbon dioxide (CO2) networks. Following the consultation, candidate projects will be evaluated by regional groups in the first half of 2025, with a view to adopting the Union’s second list of PCIs and PMIs by the end of 2025.
