19/11/2024 (Agence Europe) – An analysis by SME United, BusinessEurope and Eurochambres shows that the European Commission is not applying the ‘SME Test’ sufficiently in its proposals. The three organisations looked at 23 impact assessments conducted during the second half of the 2019-2024 legislative cycle to make this finding. This shows that the Commission has quantified the effect of the proposals on SMEs in 56% of its impact assessments. The report also points the finger at the stakeholder consultation process: out of 23 legislative initiatives analysed, only 17 respected a 12-week consultation period. However, the three organisations noted that SMEs were fairly represented during the Commission’s consultations. See the analysis: https://aeur.eu/f/edt (LM)
