19/11/2024 (Agence Europe) – At their General Affairs Council meeting on Tuesday 19 November, the EU ministers approved the draft regulation which ratifies the abandonment of the European Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform. This decision had already been taken by MEPs at the March plenary session (see EUROPE 13370/27). The new regulation aims to repeal Regulation (EU) No 524/2013 by putting an end to the ODR platform and the obligations associated with it, due to a lack of results and with a view to modernisation. To adapt these types of recourse to the digital age and simplify them, the Commission proposed a new version of the directive, known as ‘ADR’ (see EUROPE 13276/6), in 2023. Directive was amended by the EU Council last September (see EUROPE 13490/2). (IS)
