19/11/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 19 November, the Council of the EU approved the revision of the regulation and directive governing market infrastructures (EMIR). The new rules aim to make the EU clearing system more attractive and resilient, support the EU’s strategic autonomy and preserve its financial stability. For its part, the European Parliament approved the agreement reached with the EU Council last April (see EUROPE 13398/37). The revised texts will shortly be published in the Official Journal of the EU before coming into force 20 days later.
