European Commission wants to broaden its definition of AI systems and high-risk practices under AI Act

On Wednesday 13 November, the European Commission’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Office opened a targeted multi-stakeholder consultation on the future guidelines for defining AI systems and implementing AI practices that present risks, as set out in the EU’s AI Regulation (AI Act).

The AI Act follows a “risk-based approach” to regulating AI systems, by classifying such systems into different risk categories.
