EU activates civil protection mechanism in Greece in response to forest fire in north of country

29/10/24 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 29 October, the European Union activated its civil protection mechanism to help Greece fight an underground forest fire on Mount Pangaea. “Serbia is deploying a fire-fighting helicopter”, said European Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič on X.
